Jan Bell is a dear friend of mine as well as a prolific, admired and long standing musical talent. We met through mutual friends who now own the famed DUMBO restaurant/bar/gallery/stage Superfine (and the Lighthouse in The Archway) where Jan has been producing music events and weekly bookings of great local bands for over a decade. I am very excited to see her take on her latest production, the Brooklyn Americana Music Festival 2015. You can be a part of this Brooklyn first by supporting the festival’s Kickstarter fund. Here’s an excerpt from their press release:
Thirty different bands spanning the complete range of the Americana music realm including Folk, Roots Blues, Country, Bluegrass, and Jazz, will be performing in the First Annual Brooklyn Americana Music Festival, which was founded, directed, and curated by Jan Bell of Little Red Hen Productions. The Festival is to take place on three indoor stages and two outdoor stages along the waterfront in DUMBO. Bringing together local musicians from Brooklyn, along with special guests from Nashville, New Orleans, and Austin, the BKAMF will showcase some of the best original and traditional Americana musicians for a weekend of free public performance in DUMBO’s most beloved spaces; Superfine, 68 Jay Street Bar, The Archway under the Manhattan bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and The Jalopy Theatre in Red Hook. The Brooklyn Americana Music Festival is celebrating community, with free events for all ages and for our neighbors old and new. Watch out for banjos, upright basses, fiddles, mandolins, and three-part harmony sailing up into The Archway under the Manhattan bridge!
